Taipei, July 24 (CNA) The Taiwan government is working with a local social welfare group on a program to help Nicaragua and other diplomatic allies train burn rehabilitation personnel, a foreign affairs official said Tuesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sponsoring the three-year training program that will be run by the Taipei-based Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation in collaboration with a Nicaraguan association for children with burns, said Wu Rong-chuan, deputy chief of the foreign ministry's NGO Affairs Committee.
Taiwan's other diplomatic allies in Central America, including Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama, will also be invited to join the training program in Nicaragua, he said.
The training will include clinical competency and a course on how to make pressure garments, which are usually needed for burn rehab patients, Wu said.
