Taipei, July 7 (CNA) Domestic air travel in Taiwan resumed Monday afternoon, with flights departing from the nation's main island to its offshore counties of Kinmen and Penghu, according to the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA).
Taiwanese carriers, including Mandarin Airlines and UNI Air, had announced flight cancellations for Monday morning as Typhoon Danas approached the island on Sunday.
The CAA said it coordinated with airlines to arrange 12 additional flights and one larger aircraft, as part of a plan to transport nearly 13,000 passengers on domestic routes throughout the day on Monday.
Flights from Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung began departing for Kinmen County and Penghu County at 1 p.m., the agency said.
All carrier services to Taiwan's Matsu islands (Lienchiang County) remain suspended for the day, according to the CAA.
One hundred and forty-four domestic flights were canceled and seven delayed, while 33 international and China-bound flights were canceled and 14 delayed, as of 2 p.m. Monday, the CAA said.
