
Taipei, June 11 (CNA) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Wednesday afternoon that Kaohsiung's Neimen District recorded Taiwan's highest temperature so far that day, reaching 38.5 degrees Celsius as of 2 p.m.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued "orange-level" heat alerts for parts of New Taipei, Tainan and Kaohsiung, warning that temperatures could reach 38 degrees.
It also issued the advisories for Changhua, Yunlin, Pingtung and Hualien counties, where daily highs are expected to hit 36 degrees for three consecutive days.
"Yellow-level" heat alerts, predicting daily maximum temperatures of 36 degrees, were issued for Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Nantou County and Chiayi County, according to CWA data.
Meanwhile, heavy thunderstorm warnings were issued for New Taipei, Taoyuan and Hsinchu County, effective until 4:15 p.m., and for Tainan, Kaohsiung and Chiayi County, effective until 4:30 p.m., the CWA said.
