Taipei, June 6 (CNA) Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) warned people across the nation to expect brief, localized thundershowers Friday afternoon as moisture levels rise slightly.
Forecaster Huang En-hung (黃恩鴻) told CNA that southwesterly winds are bringing moisture, causing scattered brief showers in western Taiwan Friday morning and localized thundershowers in the afternoon.
Huang added that mountainous areas could experience localized heavy rain.
He also said highs on Friday are expected to range between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius across Taiwan, with temperatures in the Greater Taipei Basin and the Huadong Valley (East Rift Valley) likely to be higher.
From Saturday to Monday, weather conditions will be similar to Friday -- mostly cloudy with localized brief thundershowers in the afternoon, the forecaster said.
Meanwhile, the CWA said a tropical disturbance could develop over the seas east of the Philippines and the South China Sea this weekend through next week, though its intensity and exact path remain uncertain.
The agency will closely monitor the potential tropical system to assess any possible impact on Taiwan, the CWA said.
