Miaoli County, May 31 (CNA) A 24-year-old Vietnamese man died Saturday after falling into a concrete pit at a factory in Miaoli County, with local authorities saying the cause of the incident is still under investigation.

The Miaoli County Fire Bureau told reporters it received a report at around 10 a.m. Saturday that someone had fallen into a concrete pit at a ready-mix concrete factory in Sanwan Township for unknown reasons.

After arriving at the scene, rescuers found two individuals trapped in the pit and used ropes to lift them out, the bureau said.

One of the two men was in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and was rushed to a nearby hospital, while the other appeared to have no injuries and declined medical treatment, the bureau added.

After being taken to Wei Gong Memorial Hospital in Toufen City, the injured man, a Vietnamese national surnamed Nguyen, died from serious injuries, the local police department said, without specifying the cause of death.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, it added.
