
Taipei, April 7 (CNA) The weather in Taiwan will turn warmer and drier from Monday to Thursday, as northeasterly winds shift southeast, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
On Monday and Tuesday, brief showers are expected in the eastern half of Taiwan, in mountainous areas in the western half, and on the Hengchun peninsula, while scattered showers are likely in northern Taiwan, the CWA said.
In other areas of the country, sunny to cloudy weather will prevail, the CWA said.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures will rise significantly on Monday to highs of around 27-29 degrees Celsius in the western half of Taiwan, and 24-26 degrees in the eastern half, the CWA said.
However, temperatures will drop to 17-21 degrees Monday night and into early Tuesday, according to the weather agency.
The CWA also warned of strong winds on Monday, with sustained speeds of at least 39-49 kilometers per hour and gusts of 62-74 kph in coastal areas of Taoyuan and the Hengchun peninsula, as well on Penghu, Green and Orchid islands.
On Wednesday, the skies will be sunny to cloudy across most of Taiwan, with occasional showers in the eastern half of the country and in mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan, the CWA said.
From Wednesday night into Thursday, a weather front will bring isolated showers to central Taiwan and northern parts of the country, the CWA forecast.
