Taipei, April 6 (CNA) Much of Taiwan can expect sporadic rain showers on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The CWA said the scattered light rain may fall in northern, southern, eastern, western and central areas of Taiwan's main island, though there will be intermittent sunshine in some places.
Temperatures will be cooler in the morning in the north with lows around 16-17 degrees Celsius, while the south will see lows between 19-21 degrees, the CWA reported.
In the afternoon, northern and eastern areas will experience highs ranging from 21-25 degrees, while the central and southern regions will experience highs of 26-28 degrees, the CWA said.
Taiwan's island counties will experience varying conditions, with Penghu mostly sunny with some clouds, Kinmen cloudier with occasional sunshine, and the Matsu islands (Lienchiang County) mostly sunny, according to the CWA.
Strong winds averaging six on the Beaufort scale were forecast for Sunday afternoon and evening in some places, including coastal areas of Taichung City, Changhua County and Penghu County, as well as Taitung County's outlying Green Island and Orchid Island.
Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) from the Meteorological Application and Development Foundation said that temperatures are expected to increase slightly over the next few days, though light rain may still fall in mountainous areas of the country.
He also noted that unstable weather will return with a slight drop in temperature by Wednesday or Thursday, but conditions will improve again on Friday.
