Taipei, Jan. 27 (CNA) Tickets for additional Taiwan Railway services over the 228 Peace Memorial Day long weekend will go on sale at midnight on Jan. 30, Taiwan Railway Corp. (TRC) said Monday.
In a statement, the TRC said it plans 97 additional services from Feb. 27 to March 3 in light of the anticipated surge in passengers over the holiday from Feb. 28 to March 2.
The additional services will be available for some Tze Chiang Limited Express and Puyuma Express routes, as well as certain fast local trains, according to the TRC.
Meanwhile, tickets for coaches normally reserved for passengers traveling with young children will not be sold during the aforementioned five-day period, during which the cars will be open for general access to alleviate increased passenger volume, the TRC noted.
Real name-based seating on the Tze Chiang Limited Express, available to Taiwanese nationals residing in Hualien and Taitung counties, their spouses, and relatives within one degree of separation, or to citizens whose ID numbers begin with the letters U or V, can be bought one day later at midnight on Jan. 31, it said.
