U.S. dollar closes sharply higher on Taipei forex market

Taipei, July 31 (CNA) The U.S. dollar rose sharply against the Taiwan dollar Thursday, gaining NT$0.197 to close at NT$29.916.

Turnover totaled US$1.729 billion during the trading session.

The greenback opened at the day's low of NT$29.770, and peaked at NT$29.954 during trading.
