Taipei, Aug. 3 (CNA) Jeremy Lin's high school coach Peter Diepenbrock said Friday he is confident that the first NBA player of Taiwanese descent will continue to make his mark on the league.

"We don't like to call it 'Linsanity' anymore, but Jeremy Lin will definitely have a lot more success in the NBA," said Diepenbrock, at the end of his six-day trip to Taiwan on Friday.

Diepenbrock said he was very excited that Lin is with the Houston Rockets, because the point guard now has "a team and a coach that really believe in him and what he can do."

"I think it's the perfect situation for him."

Diepenbrock also gave some suggestions to the rising NBA star, in particular urging him to play less physically so he can last the entire season.

Lin needs to shoot more floaters, more jump shots, and avoid the amount of contact that he had last season, the coach said.

Jeremy Lin is scheduled to arrive in Taipei early Saturday and meet with local fans at a sponsors event at 6 p.m. in the Ximenting area of Taipei, a popular hangout for teenagers.

On Sunday, he will attend a news conference at 2 p.m. in Taipei's upscale Hsinyi District.

It will be Lin's first visit to Taiwan since his meteoric rise from obscurity with the New York Knicks earlier this year and his recent signing of a three-year, US$25 million contract to play for the Houston Rockets.

After his Taiwan visit, the 23-year-old will fly to China for a basketball camp. He will return to Taiwan in late August to host a similar camp for a group of 120 young players Aug. 27-30.

Lin will also attend an evangelical gathering hosted by a local television station on Sept. 2.
