Taipei, Nov. 19 (CNA) Two magnitude 4.5 earthquakes struck off Taiwan's east coast at 8:25 p.m. and 8:38 p.m., respectively, on Wednesday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The epicenter of the first earthquake was located in the sea about 23.6 kilometers northeast of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 6.3 km, CWA data showed.

The second quake's epicenter was also offshore, about 23.8 km east-northeast of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 5.4 km.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

The intensity of both quakes -- which gauges the actual effects of a temblor -- reached level 3 on Taiwan's seven-tier intensity scale in parts of Hualien County, the CWA said.
