CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng (劉沛滕) told CNA that next week's weather will largely depend on the intensity of the northeasterly winds. Moisture levels in northern Taiwan will be particularly high from Monday to Wednesday, with rain also likely in areas north of Taoyuan, including Yilan County in the northeast.
The seasonal winds are forecast to weaken slightly on Tuesday, regain strength on Wednesday, and dissipate on Thursday, Liu added.
Due to the strengthening winds, temperatures in northern Taiwan began to dip on Friday and are expected to hover around 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday, possibly dropping to 19 degrees in some areas on Sunday.
According to the CWA website, areas north of Taoyuan, including Yilan County, will experience cloudy to rainy conditions until Thursday, with temperatures ranging between 20 and 23 degrees. In eastern Taiwan, skies will be mostly sunny to partly sunny, with daytime highs reaching 25 to 29 degrees.
