
Taipei, Oct. 12 (CNA) Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Sunday that the hot weather will continue next week, though temperature highs could drop by about five degrees Celsius from Oct. 19 as the northeasterly monsoon strengthens.
CWA forecaster Chang Chun-yao (張竣堯) told CNA that highs from Monday to Saturday will likely reach 33-35 degrees Celsius in western Taiwan and 31-32 degrees in eastern Taiwan due to a high-pressure system over the Pacific Ocean.
The Greater Taipei area and foothills in central and southern Taiwan could see temperatures rise above 36 degrees, Chang said
The forecaster said temperatures will fall more noticeably from Oct. 19, with highs of 28-30 degrees and lows of 22-24 degrees in northern and northeastern parts of Taiwan.
Other areas can expect highs of around 30-33 degrees and lows near 25-26 degrees, he said, adding that the strength of the monsoon remains uncertain and could increase further.
