Taoyuan, Sept. 4 (CNA) An electrical malfunction on the Taoyuan Airport MRT disrupted traffic for four minutes, delaying 19 trains and affecting around 1,200 passengers on Thursday night, according to Taoyuan Metro Corp.
The company said in a statement that the railway's system tripped a circuit breaker at 7:18 p.m. as an automatic safety measure due to the malfunction. The control center then promptly located the malfunction and isolated it in accordance with standard operating procedures.
After the system was deemed safe, operations resumed at 7:22 p.m.
The company said it has gradually adjusted train intervals and will further inspect the cause of the malfunction after operations end for the day.
It apologized for any inconvenience caused to travelers and said that delay certificates are available for any passengers who need them at all MRT stations (except for Xingnan Station, which is unattended) or through the company's official website.
This was the second electrical malfunction on the airport MRT Thursday following a similar incident at 11:23 a.m., which disrupted services for three minutes, delaying 19 trains and affecting around 2,000 travelers.
