
Taipei, July 7 (CNA) A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan at 8:01 p.m. Monday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The epicenter of the temblor was located in Nan'ao Township, about 19.2 kilometers south of Yilan County Hall, and hit at a depth of 62.5 km, CWA data showed.
There were no immediate reports of damage resulting from the quake.
The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Nan'ao and Hsinchu County's Zhudong, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale.
The quake also had an intensity of 2 in neighboring Hualien County, as well as locations in the Greater Taipei area, Taoyuan, Hsinchu City and County, Miaoli County, mountainous areas in Taichung and Nantou County, and Changhua County, the CWA said.
