Taipei, July 7 (CNA) Tropical Storm Danas' journey along the Taiwan Strait disrupted air and marine traffic on Monday, according to the Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) and Taoyuan International Airport Corp.
Of the 664 flights scheduled at Taoyuan International Airport on Monday, 34 flights have been canceled, while 90 arrivals and 40 departures have been rescheduled.
As operations to clear the backlog of rescheduled flights will begin at 2 p.m., with plane traffic peaking between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., passengers are reminded that wait times and baggage claim may take longer than usual, the airport company said.
The company said it has coordinated with airlines to adjust flight schedules and deploy additional ground staff to assist passengers. It also advised travelers and those picking up passengers to stay updated on the latest flight information.
Regarding marine traffic, 15 ferry routes totaling 124 trips to Taiwan's outlying islands have been canceled on Monday, according to the MPB.
The agency urged the public not to travel to the outlying islands during typhoons to prevent being stranded there due to traffic disruptions.
Although Danas weakened from a typhoon to a tropical storm early Monday morning and its eye has left Taiwan, its periphery is expected to affect Taiwan through the night, the Central Weather Administration said.
