Taipei, June 14 (CNA) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) canceled heavy rain advisories for five municipalities in Taiwan on Saturday, after issuing them early Saturday morning, as the rain had eased up.

At press time, the CWA had cancelled the warnings issued for Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung cities, as well as Chiayi and Pingtung counties.

The rain was heavy on the five municipalities early Saturday, with Pingtung County even experiencing extremely heavy rain earlier in the morning.

However, as moisture eased up gradually during the day, the chances of rain will decrease around Taiwan, bringing cloudy to sunny weather to most of the island, with the exception of central and southern regions where there are still chances of brief showers or thundershowers, according to the CWA.

Temperatures on Saturday will be slightly hotter than on Friday, with highs reaching between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius and lows ranging between 25 to 27 degrees, the CWA said.

In Taiwan's offshore counties, Penghu County will experience temperatures ranging between 26 and 30 degrees, and Kinmen from 27 to 30 degrees, while Matsu could see 26 to 30 degrees, according to the CWA's forecast.

Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮), meanwhile, said the decrease in atmospheric moisture will bring stable weather on Sunday.

Cloudy and sunny weather will be observed across the island on Sunday, Wu said, with only mountainous areas having a slight chance of rain.

Wu also said that the nation should be aware of temperatures possibly hitting as high as 38 degrees on Sunday.

Taiwan will subsequently see sunny weather with a chance of cloudiness on Monday, Wu added, with mountainous areas possibly experiencing localized showers or thundershowers.

Wu forecasted heavier rain would return to Taiwan between Tuesday and Wednesday, when the country could experience brief showers or thundershowers due to increased moisture.

Starting Thursday until the following Monday, Taiwan will experience hot temperatures and sunny to cloudy weather, while mountainous areas will again see a high chance of brief showers and thundershowers after noon, according to Wu.

As for potential storms, such as Tropical Storm Wutip that did not directly affect Taiwan, Wu said there are no current forecasts of such weather patterns or even rain fronts over the next 10 days.
