Taipei, June 7 (CNA) A tropical disturbance off the southeastern coast of the Philippines may form into the second tropical depression of the 2025 Western Pacific typhoon season as early as Monday, according to Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Saturday.
The CWA said that while models in different parts of the world predicted varying forecasts for the weather pattern, reflecting the uncertainty of its strength and positioning, the current disturbance could pick up momentum and grow stronger, even turning into the first typhoon of the 2025 season.
CWA forecaster Li Ming-hsiang (李名翔) on Saturday added that if the disturbance were to strengthen into a depression, it would happen as early as Monday.
Li said if the disturbance forms into what is currently designated as Typhoon Wutip, it would probably happen on Wednesday.
As for the weather on Saturday, Li said it will be cloudy with a chance of sun all across the nation.
In the afternoon, Taiwan could experience localized thundershowers, especially in the northern parts of the nation, as well as the mountainous areas in the whole country.
Precipitation in the north and mountainous areas could even turn into heavy rain after noon, according to the CWA, which added that there is a chance of sporadic rainfall in central and southern Taiwan Saturday morning.
Information from the administration indicated that the weather patterns resulted from the effects of a lingering southern wind that is present throughout the nation.
The CWA forecasted that highs around Taiwan on Saturday will range between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius, and could climb to around 36 degrees in mountainous areas in the south.

Lows would range between 25 and 27 degrees, the CWA said.
In Taiwan's offshore counties, Penghu County will experience temperatures ranging between 27 and 30 degrees, and Kinmen from 25 to 30 degrees, while Matsu could see 24 to 28 degrees.
