Taipei, May 2 (CNA) Warm weather with a chance of rainfall is forecast to increase across Taiwan over the next seven days from Saturday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Mostly cloudy skies can be expected in most of Taiwan on Saturday morning, although rainfall could occur in the eastern counties of Hualien and Taitung, CWA forecaster Chang Chun-yao (張竣堯) said.
Moisture in the air is likely to increase later that afternoon, bringing a chance of thunderstorms in different areas across the country, Chang added.
The wet weather will persist island-wide on Sunday before easing off the next day as cloudy to sunny skies return throughout most of Taiwan, although scattered thunderstorms could still occur in some northern and northeastern areas, he said.
Due to a passing cloud system, rain is forecast to affect many parts of Taiwan from Tuesday to Thursday, the CWA forecaster noted.
As easterly winds become more prominent on May 9, rainfall is forecast to ease with only localized showers in some areas, Chang said.
Meanwhile, warm weather with temperature highs of 31-33 degrees Celsius is likely across the country over the next seven days as no cold winds are forecast to arrive during that period, he added.
The mercury could drop slightly when it rains, but other than that, the weather will remain hot and humid, Chang said.
