Taipei, April 11 (CNA) Temperatures across Taiwan were expected to rebound Friday as rainfall eased, but some remaining moisture in the atmosphere could lead to rain in various parts of the island, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.

Daytime highs are forecast to reach 31 degrees Celsius in western Taiwan and 27 degrees in the east, and the mercury may dip to as low as 20 degrees after sunset, according to CWA data.

Meanwhile, skies across the island will be partly cloudy, the CWA said, attributing the easing rainfall to southerly winds.

With moisture still in the atmosphere, however, intermittent rain is likely throughout the day in Hualien and Taitung counties in eastern Taiwan due to their windward position, the CWA said.

Brief showers are also expected in the northern half of Taiwan and in mountainous regions. The CWA advised people heading outdoors in the afternoon to be prepared for possible rainfall.

Also on Friday, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) forecast partly cloudy skies across Taiwan until Saturday afternoon.

According to Wu, thunderstorms and intermittent rain could affect much of Taiwan from Saturday evening through Sunday morning as a weather front moves across the island.

The weather is expected to turn fair again on Sunday, he said.
