Taipei, March 30 (CNA) Cold and rainy weather is forecast across northern Taiwan on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Daytime temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan will range from 13 to 16 degrees Celsius Sunday, with relatively steady and occasionally heavy rain, the CWA said.
In eastern Taiwan, and from Taichung down to Tainan in the west, temperatures will reach 18-23 degrees with isolated rain showers, the CWA said.
Temperatures of 26-27 degrees, along with mostly cloudy weather and rain in the mountains, are expected in Kaohsiung and Pingtung in the south, the weather agency said.
Looking into next week, steady rainfall is forecast for northern and central Taiwan on Monday, along with isolated showers in the south, according to independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮).
On Tuesday and Wednesday, weather conditions will become gradually drier, with the rain on those days mostly limited to northern and eastern Taiwan, Wu said.
During that three-day period, temperatures will also gradually rebound as the current cold front weakens, Wu said.
Based on European forecasting models, the weather over the Children's Day and Tomb Sweeping Day holiday weekend from Thursday to next Sunday will be "more or less stable," Wu said.
Over the holiday weekend, clear to mostly cloudy weather and warming temperatures are expected for most of Taiwan, with a chance of isolated showers in the east, Wu said.
