Taipei, March 11 (CNA) The weather around Taiwan will be warm Tuesday and remain that way for another day or two due to ongoing southeasterly winds, with daytime highs of 30 degrees Celsius expected for central and southern Taiwan.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecast partly cloudy to sunny skies for Tuesday, with highs of 25-28 degrees in the north and 29-30 degrees in the center and south.
Temperatures will remain chilly at night, however, as the mercury dips to 16-18 degrees in the northern half of Taiwan and to 19-20 degrees elsewhere, the CWA forecast.
Sporadic showers are possible in northern Taiwan and mountainous areas in the central part of the island, according to the CWA.
The generally warm and stable weather conditions are expected to continue into Wednesday, before a weather front arrives Thursday and destabilizes weather conditions over the following days by sending temperatures lower and bringing more precipitation, the CWA said.
Meanwhile, the air quality across most of Taiwan was expected to be fair to good on Tuesday, while an "orange" alert was issued for parts of southern Taiwan in the Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung areas, the Ministry of Environment said.
An orange alert indicates unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups such as the elderly, children, and people with heart or respiratory conditions, according to the ministry.
