Taipei, Dec. 31 (CNA) Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) has urged New Year's Eve revelers to wrap up warm for outdoor events on Tuesday evening, as chilly temperatures are forecast around midnight.
"Wear more clothes to avoid catching a cold at New Year's Eve outdoor activities," the CWA said.
Northern and central parts of Taiwan can expect to ring in the new year with temperatures of around 14-15 degrees Celsius, according to the weather agency, while southern areas may begin 2025 in 16-18 degree conditions.

Meanwhile, party-goers in Taiwan's outlying islands are forecast to bid farewell to 2024 in 16-19 degree weather in Penghu County, 11-18 degree weather in Kinmen County, and 11-14 degree weather in the Matsu islands (Lienchiang County).
The relatively cold conditions stem from a slight strengthening of northeasterly winds on Tuesday, according to Wu Der-rong (吳德榮), associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Taiwan's National Central University.
Taiwan will be covered by middle-level clouds, the expert meteorologist said, and scattered showers can be expected in central, southern, and eastern parts of the country on the first day of 2025.
