Taipei, July 30 (CNA) Taiwan's representative to Germany, Shieh Jhy-wey (謝志偉), will be appointed as the country's new envoy to the European Union, a source familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Shieh will replace Roy Lee (李淳), who has served as Taiwan's envoy to the EU and Belgium since January 2024, the source said, without disclosing Lee's next assignment.
The source also did not comment on who might succeed Shieh, who has served as Taiwan's de facto ambassador to Germany since August 2016.
Shieh previously held the same post from May 2005 to June 2007.
