Taiwan watching situation after North Korean leader's death: Ma

President Ma Ying-jeou said Monday the  government will closely monitor developments on the Korean Peninsula  and in East Asia following the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong  Il, but he did not expect Kim's death to have a major impact on  Taiwan.
