Actresses Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄), Hsieh Ying-xuan (謝盈萱) and Sun Ke-fang (孫可芳), who played Chen's daughters in "Little Big Women" (孤味), which won Chen her first Golden Horse Award for best actress in 2020, introduced the 86-year-old actress.

They praised Chen's work ethic and character, highlighting her philanthropy and efforts to help younger actors and actresses.

Director Joe Hsieh (謝文明), who won best animated short film with "Praying Mantis" (螳螂) earlier on Saturday, also thanked Chen for her performance and guidance in his productions.

Upon taking the stage, she first thanked the trio for their introduction and for presenting her with the award, before expressing her gratitude to the 62nd Golden Horse Awards for the recognition.

"I have made over 100 films in my life," she said. "So many that like ... I have forgotten the titles and names of."

Chen also spoke about the hardships actors face in creating the best films for audiences.

"I will walk until I cannot walk, and act until I cannot act," she added. "I am Chen Shu-fang, and I will do my best to perform for you."

Chen made her screen debut in the 1957 Hokklo (commonly known as Taiwanese) language film "Who's Crime" (誰的罪惡) and has since built a career spanning nearly seven decades, appearing in everything from black-and-white features to television dramas and Taiwan New Cinema.

Her credits include "The Boys from Fengkuei" (風櫃來的人), "Taipei Story" (青梅竹馬), "A City of Sadness" (悲情城市), "A Borrowed Life" (多桑) and "March of Happiness" (天馬茶房).

In recent years, Chen earned widespread acclaim for her performance in director Joseph Hsu's (許承傑) "Little Big Women."

She also took home best supporting actress for Cheng Yu-chieh's (鄭有傑) "Dear Tenant" (親愛的房客), becoming the first performer in Golden Horse history to win both categories in the same year.

Chen has also lent her voice to animated films, including Joe Hsieh's "Night Bus" (夜車), which won best animated short film at the Golden Horse Awards in 2020, before "Praying Mantis" won him the accolade again on Saturday.
