Oscar-winning Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, who is in Taiwan to attend the opening ceremony of a retrospective celebrating late Taiwanese director Edward Yang (楊德昌) and to take part in a number of talks, has labelled Yang's "A Brighter Summer Day" a lifechanging movie.
