Taipei, June 23 (CNA) Unstable weather has been forecast across Taiwan on Sunday, with the Central Weather Bureau issuing heavy rain warnings for some parts of the country.

Brief but strong showers, accompanied by lightening and gusty wind, will be noticeable in northern and central Taiwan due to moisture brought by a monsoon front that approached Taiwan late Saturday night, the bureau said.

Heavy rain warnings have been issued for 13 cities and counties north of Changhua County, mountainous areas south of Yunlin County and those in Yilan County and Nantou County, it said.

Temperatures in northern Taiwan will be lower compared to the past few days, with highs expected to hover around 28-29 degrees Celsius, but the mercury will remain high, at 30-33 degrees, in the rest of the country, according to the bureau.

Meanwhile, the air quality throughout Taiwan proper and on the outlying islands was shown to be good on Sunday, thanks to the rainfall, according to the Taiwan Air Quality Monitoring Network.
