Taipei, Sept. 25 (CNA) The Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) will bolster train service in eastern Taiwan for the National Day holiday in October to meet higher demand, which is expected to rise because of a fireworks display in Taitung County.

A total of 210 train trips will be added to the regular schedule between Taipei and Taitung along Taiwan's eastern corridor from Oct. 6 to 11, the TRA said Monday.

There will also be more trains running between Shulin in New Taipei and Hualien and Taitung during off-peak hours the day before and the day after the four-day holiday from Oct. 7 to 10, with fares for those services to be discounted by 30 percent.

During the Oct. 6-11 period, Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains will make an additional 126 runs, Chu-Kuang Express trains will make an additional 50 runs and Fu-Hsing Semi Express and local trains will make an additional 34 runs on the Eastern Line (including the South-Link Line), according to TRA.
