Taipei, Dec. 14 (CNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) issued a statement Thursday thanking the European Parliament (EP) for approving a resolution with motions to support Taiwan's participation in international organizations.

According to the MOFA statement, the EP, which is the directly elected legislature of the European Union (EU), passed its annual report on the implementation of Common Foreign and Security Policy a day earlier, which includes a clause related to Taiwan and security in the Asia-Pacific region.

The clause notes the EP's interest in peace in the region, calls on all parties involved to resolve differences through peaceful means, and finishes by reiterating "its commitment to supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations and activities."

MOFA expressed its thanks for the EP's support, noting that previous annual reports had repeatedly mentioned Taiwan and a focus on relations across the Taiwan Strait, as well as the country's international participation.

The clause this year is very much in line with the Taiwanese government's goals for peace, development and meaningful participation internationally, the statement reads.

MOFA called on the EU and member states to continue to monitor the stability of the Asia-Pacific region and to support Taiwan's international participation.
