Taipei, June 30 (CNA) A list of wealthy tax defaulters will be posted on the websites of five national tax administrations aroundTaiwan for three months from July 1, the Ministry of Finance saidFriday.
The list comprises 1,166 wealthy individuals and corporations that owe the government a total of NT$110.35 billion (US$3.69 billion) in back taxes, according to the ministry's Taxation Agency.
The publication of the list is part of a joint effort by judicial and tax authorities to recover the outstanding amounts, the agency said. Wealthy tax defaulters are defined as individuals who owe NT$10 million or more and corporations that are more than NT$50 million in default.
The number of wealthy tax defaulters has decreased this year by 246, while the total amount of outstanding taxes in that category has dropped by NT$15.9 billion, according to government statistics.
