Taipei, April 29 (CNA) A Taiwan-made product show in the capital city of Guangxi posted orders worth over US$100 million on its opening day, Wang Chih-kang, head of Taiwan's trade delegation, said Sunday.
The Taiwan product exposition in Nanning recorded purchases of US$137 million on Saturday, with orders placed by purchasing groups from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) worth US$103 million, Wang told the press.
DNR, the second largest health product company in Indonesia, placed orders for nutritional drinks worth US$1 million at the fair, while other companies also showed interest in cooperating with Taiwan in its tea extraction technology, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The expo displayed various types of Taiwan-made products from luxury products, clothing, beauty products to food.
The most important work of TAITRA is to help Taiwan's small and medium businesses tap into the China market and expand their franchise network there, Wang said.
To date, Taiwan enterprises are represented by over 2,100 franchisees in China to help sell their products, Wang added.
The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is the only location in China that is adjacent to the ASEAN countries, with two highways running from the Nanning to Hanoi, Vietnam. Further, the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone also boosts the area's potential for economic prosperity, Wang said.
The trade show will run through May 1.
