Taipei, June 30 (CNA) Taiwan's branding efforts are expected bythe government to obtain substantial results within 10 years,hopefully making the country an Asia-Pacific branding center,Minister of Economic Affairs Shih Yen-shiang said Wednesday.
Speaking at a seminar on a branding campaign sponsored by theBureau of Foreign Trade under his ministry, Shih said that "I amconfident Taiwan companies, with their own brands, will createdistinction that will lure large numbers of users within 10 yearsacross the globe."
According to Shih, Taiwan businesses have three advantages thatwill help it establish distinguished marques on the world market.
First, Taiwan has accumulated strong momentum with many years ofexperience in manufacturing as a foundation upon which it candiversify into the service industry. Second, the rise of emergingmarkets, including China, provides a good chance for Taiwan to buildits own brands. Third, Taiwan-made high-quality and fair-pricedproducts will satisfy the appetites of clients in the Chinese andemerging markets, he said.
"The country will have more world-class brands like Acer,TrendMicro, HTC, Asus, Hon Hai, Master Kang, Uni-president andGiant," he predicted.
"Taiwan's economy will be able to fly high if the country cangrab this current good time for transformation, " Shih said, notingthat "the manufacturing and service industries will be the two majorengines driving Taiwan's economic success."
