Taipei, Nov. 4 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) and Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) will address each other as "Mr." at their scheduled meeting in Singapore on Saturday and the two will have dinner after the meeting, Zhang Zhijun (張志軍), director of Beijing's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO), was quoted by the Xinhua news Wednesday.

Zhang said that the two have agreed to meet in the capacity as leader of either side of the Taiwan Strait and they will address each other as "Mr."

This is a practical arrangement to shelve the disputes and to give mutual respect, at a time when political differences between the two sides of the strait have not yet been resolved, according to Zhang.

He added that the two sides would exchange views on promoting peaceful development of cross-strait relations and exploring how to deepen exchanges cooperation in various fields.
