Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) Eco-friendly textile products from Taiwan drew a lot attention from international buyers at Texworld, a four-day international textile exhibition held in Paris earlier in the week, the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) said Saturday.

A total of eight Taiwanese textile manufacturers participated in Texworld, showcasing in particular environmentally friendly products and those made with the use of green technology, the TTF said.

The Taiwanese manufacturers at the international fair included Everest Textile Co. Ltd., Handseltex Industrial Co., Danken Enterprises Co., New Wide Enterprises Co., and Fabric King Tech Group, said the TTF, which led the group.

It said more than 50 international buyers from several international brands visited the Taiwan pavilion to look at the eco-friendly textile products.

Among the international buyers were luxury apparel and accessory brand LVMH group, U.K. retailer Marks & Spencer, U.S. fashion supplier BCBG, Italian fashion house Max Mara, British fabric manufacturer Courtaulds and South Korean department store E-Land World Ltd.

The representatives of BCBG and Max Mara said they have confidence in Taiwan-made fabrics, while Courtaulds promised to work with Taiwanese companies in the long run, according to TFF.

Apart from visiting the Taiwan pavilion, many potential buyers also used Texworld's i-Tex sourcing system to seek eco-friendly products from Taiwanese manufacturers, the TTF said.

Although the European economy has been hard hit by the lingering debt problems, Taiwanese textile exports still can find a niche market there for products made with the use of innovative technology, the TFF said.

Texworld, now in its 15th year, has become one of the most important textile trade exhibitions in Europe and serves as a major trading venue for the world's fabric and clothing suppliers, retailers and wholesalers.

The TFF said it plans to lead a delegation to Japan Creation, a fashion exhibition scheduled for November in Tokyo, in a bid to further promote Taiwan's eco-friendly textiles.
