Taipei, Nov. 27 (CNA) An additional 4,000 outfield seats will go on sale for the Asian Baseball Championship opener on Dec. 3 between Taiwan and South Korea at the Taipei Dome, the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) said Monday.

The extra tickets will be priced at NT$400 (US$12.66) each for a field-level seat, the CTBA said.

Of the nearly 4,000 seats to go on sale, 500 will be reserved for sale at the arena on Dec. 3, the day of the tournament's opening game, while the other tickets will go on sale on the ticketing platform Tixcraft starting Nov. 28 at noon.

For the tickets going on sale at the Taipei Dome on Dec. 3, each customer will be limited to the purchase of two tickets, it said.

The CTBA said it made more seats available for fans after the original 13,000 seats were sold out minutes after going on sale at 12 p.m. on Nov. 25.

Even with the opening of an additional 4,000 seats, the number of fans being allowed in will fall far below the new arena's seating capacity of around 40,000, because the Taipei Dome is new and has only been put through one test with fans, an exhibition game on Nov. 18.

Taiwan, the defending champions of the competition, and South Korea are joined by Hong Kong and Palestine in the competition's Group A, with the last edition's runners-up Japan, the Philippines, Pakistan and Thailand in Group B.

Taiwan will play Palestine and Hong Kong at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium on Dec. 5 and 6.

The top two teams of each group can advance to the Super Rounds at the Taipei Dome before the finals take place at the Taipei Dome on Dec. 10.
