1 dead, 1 injured in crane-scooters collision outside MRT Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station

Taipei, June 21 (CNA) An 18-year-old woman was killed and another man injured in a traffic accident involving a crane and multiple scooters outside Taipei's MRT Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station on Saturday afternoon.

Taipei police and fire officials said they received a report at 2:10 p.m. about a serious traffic accident near Exit 3 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station. When responders arrived, they found that a crane had struck three scooters at the intersection.

The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 60-year-old male scooter driver suffered fractures in both arms but was conscious when taken to hospital.

The condition of the third scooter driver injured in the incident was not immediately disclosed.

Authorities said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
