
Taipei, April 21 (CNA) Normal operations have resumed at Kinmen Airport after dense fog led to 34 flight cancellations over the weekend, stranding hundreds of passengers, the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) said on Monday.
Coordination with domestic airline operators is being carried out to help ease congestion as the airport resumed operations the previous day, the CAA said in a news release.
According to the aviation administration, Uni Air will add one extra Taipei-Kinmen flight using the Airbus A321 aircraft on Monday, while Mandarin Airlines has also agreed to operate one additional flight on Tuesday.
The Ministry of National Defense, the CAA said, has also been contacted to lend its transportation assistance when necessary.

Under the current assessment, the number of scheduled flights should be sufficient to meet the needs of passengers, it said.
Based on feedback from Kinmen Airport, the CAA said less than 100 passengers were still waiting to return to Taiwan proper as of Monday morning.
With the fog season underway, travelers to Kinmen are advised to plan their itineraries carefully to avoid being stranded at the airport due to weather conditions.
