Taipei, Jan. 29 (CNA) Nantou in central Taiwan has been named one of the top seven destinations in Asia for fresh air in February by online hotel booking platform Agoda.
In a statement released earlier this month, Agoda said the list of seven destinations for travelers to enjoy fresh and healthy air to offer fresh air in February had been based on historical PM2.5 data.
Agoda described Nantou County as "surrounded by mountains and lakes" and offering "a serene escape with good air quality."
"Visitors can explore the picturesque Sun Moon Lake and enjoy the tranquil surroundings, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and rejuvenation," Agoda said.
B2B tourism website Travel and Tour World (TTW) echoed Agoda on its website, saying that with the iconic Sun Moon Lake in Nantou reflecting its pristine surroundings, the county feels like stepping into a painting.
In addition, TTW said, Nantou's central mountains filled with crisp mountain air complement the peaceful vistas, making the county a haven for travelers seeking tranquility.
Joining Nantou on Agoda's list were Sapporo, Japan; Kuching, Malaysia; Singapore; El Nido in the Philippines; Gangneung on the eastern coastline of South Korea; and Koh Lipe, a small island in southern Thailand.
"These destinations are not only likely to offer cleaner air but also a variety of experiences, from cultural festivals to natural wonders," Agoda said.
