Tokyo, March 15 (CNA) Japan-based Taiwanese Go player Cho U defeated Japan's Shinji Takao Thursday to defend the Kisei title he has held since 2010.
As the winner, 32-year-old Cho was awarded prize money of 45 million Japanese yen (US$538,683).
The best-of-seven title match began in mid-January, with each game lasting two days.
Cho and Takao had won three games each before the seventh game that took place in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo.
Besides the Kisei title, Cho won the Oza title for the fourth time last December.
Cho is currently challenging Yuta Iyama for the Judan title that he lost to the Japanese player in 2011.
