Kuala Lumpur, May 15 (CNA) Malaysian police reported Tuesday a major bust of Erimin, a hypnotic sedative, arresting 25 people, including three Taiwanese people, in a joint raid involving the Malaysian and Taiwanese authorities.
According to a statement by Malaysia's Federal National Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, police made simultaneous raids May 12 on 15 locations in Kuala Lumpur, Klang and Penang, seizing drugs worth 43 million Malaysian ringgit (US$13.95 million).
The 25 suspects, which also included three Nepalese men, are aged between 24 and 60.
Police seized 282 kg of raw materials and 88,000 processed Erimin pills.
It was not the first time Taiwan and Malaysian police had cooperated to cripple an Erimin syndicate.
In 2009, the two sides made similar raids and rounded up 10 suspects, including several Taiwanese.
