Bus carrying South Korean tour group crashes; 15 injured

Taipei, May 9 (CNA) Fifteen people were injured when a bus carrying a tour group from South Korea was involved in an accident in the scenic Taroko National Park in eastern Taiwan Wednesday, the Travel Agent Association of the Republic of China, Taiwan said later that day.

The bus was crossing the Chinwen Bridge in the park when it overturned at 1:48 p.m.

Those injured on the bus, which was carrying 13 South Korean tourists from Hana Tour Service Inc., included the driver and the tour guide.

The tour guide had a bone fracture, while two of the tourists suffered more serious injuries. They were all rushed to hospitals in nearby Hualian City for treatment.

The cause of the accident was undetermined as of press time, the association said.

The Executive Yuan has instructed all related government agencies to provide assistance to the victims. (By Chen Shun-hiseh and Lilian Wu)
