Taipei, March 26 (CNA) A S-70 helicopter fell into the sea off eastern Taiwan with six people on board Monday night while on a mission to rescue a fisherman who was suffering from chest pains, the Air Force has confirmed.
As of 11 p.m., five of the people on board the helicopter at the time of the crash were still missing while one had been rescued, an Air Force spokesman told CNA.
The helicopter went missing from the radar at 9:14 p.m. in waters near the remote Orchid Island for reasons that were not immediately clear, the Air Force said.
Several ships have been dispatched to search for the missing personnel, all of whom were in the military.
