Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) A three-day international fisheries and seafood exposition is set to open on Thursday in Taiwan's southern port city of Kaohsiung featuring some 700 booths from 20 countries, including the host nation, Taiwan.

The 2017 Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show will be held in conjunction with Taiwan Agriculture Week 2017 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), one of the organizers of the event.

The show floor will be divided into eight different sections, including fishing technologies, aquaculture, seafood processing, machinery/equipment and fishery services.

Meanwhile, international exhibitors from Indonesia, South Korea, and Vietnam will have designated halls at the exhibition venue to showcase their products, the organizer said.

Walter Yeh (葉明水), president and CEO of the trade promotion body, pointed out that the event is an ideal platform for local companies to show off their latest seafood processing techniques.

The event will also host a slew of forums to promote exchanges between local and overseas business leaders. Notable guest speakers will include Christian Luckstadt, technical director from FEED of ADDCON GmbH of Germany, and Matt Thompson from the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life at the New England Aquarium.

The fair, which will run through Saturday, will also host one-on-one meetings between exhibitors and buyers, as well as visits to local manufacturers, the organizer said.
