Taipei, Dec. 31 (CNA) The first dawn sunlight of 2026 in Taiwan will appear at 6:03 a.m. on New Year's Day on Maxishan (Mt. Maxi) in Hualien County, the Taipei Astronomical Museum said Wednesday.
The earliest dawn sunlight at sea level will be seen at Eluanbi Lighthouse at 6:11 a.m., the museum said in a press release.
The museum said Eluanbi Lighthouse, located in Taiwan's southernmost Pingtung County, is a practical alternative viewing site of the first dawn of 2026 because Maxishan, also known as Bonan Mountain, is located at an elevation above 3,000 meters that is "difficult to reach."
