Taipei, Feb. 24 (CNA) MediaTek Inc., which designs chips used in mobile phones, has launched three new chipsets that it said will be more efficient than their predecessors and feature enhanced gaming performance and AI processing capabilities.
Of the new chipsets, the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X have been designed to deliver advanced gaming and AI camera technology to consumers, while the Dimensity 6400 will offer enhanced 5G performance, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
"Whether gaming, using the latest AI applications, or taking photos and videos, users can enjoy the significant performance and impressive energy efficiency that they have come to expect from the Dimensity family," said Lee Yen-chi (李彥輯), general manager of MediaTek's wireless communications business unit.
The first smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 and 7400X will be available in the first quarter of 2025, while smartphones powered by the Dimensity 6400 are currently available, according to the company.
The chipsets will result in improved graphics performance, AI optimizations that adjust game settings based on a device's workload, reduced input lag for quicker response, and advanced power savings so users can enjoy longer gaming sessions, the statement said.
The Dimensity 7400 and 7400X are built on chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s (TSMC) 4nm process node and come with an octa-core CPU setup, MediaTek said in the statement.
Built on TSMC's 6nm process node, the Dimensity 6400 utilizes an octa-core CPU and uses up to 19 percent less power when gaming compared to competitive chipsets, the company said.
