Taipei, Dec. 13 (CNA) Former Taiwanese representative to the United Kingdom Kelly Hsieh (謝武樵) has been appointed by President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) as Taiwan's deputy foreign minister, filling the post left vacant by Roy Lee (李淳).
According to a notice issued by the Presidential Office on Wednesday, Hsieh, who served as deputy foreign minister from April 2018 to July 2020, will retake the post after Lee was named the country's envoy to the European Union.
Hsieh served as the Republic of China's (Taiwan's official name) envoy to the U.K. from July 2020 until he filed for retirement in November.
The 68-year-old career diplomat was also previously posted to Toronto in Canada, Switzerland, and Thailand.
