Taipei, June 27 (CNA) Taiwanese pop queen Jolin Tsai (蔡依林) won best Mandarin female singer at the 37th Golden Melody Awards on Saturday for her album "Pleasure," marking her second victory in the category.
Tsai prevailed over fellow nominees award-winning singer Julia Peng (彭佳慧), up-and-coming singers Hung Pei-yu (洪佩瑜) and Erika Liu (劉艾立), rapper Hsien Ching (陳嫺靜) and Chinese singer Shan Yichun (單依純).
"I'm much less nervous than the last time I stood on this stage because I'm surrounded by so many outstanding musicians, and I know I still have a lot to work toward," Tsai said while accepting the trophy.
"This is the most important album of my career as a singer, and it has brought me an award I never imagined receiving," she added.
"Even when there's a lot of noise along the way, I remind myself to treat it as my paintbrush and keep creating new landscapes."

The award marked Tsai's return to the category with her first album since "Ugly Beauty" in 2018.
She previously won best Mandarin female singer for "Dancing Diva" (舞孃) in 2007 and Album of the Year for "Ugly Beauty" in 2018.
Centered on the theme of desire, "Pleasure" explores how people confront longing and inner needs, challenging conventional perceptions that frame desire as something negative.
Known for pushing beyond her comfort zone, Tsai adopts a more mature perspective in the album, addressing human vulnerability through a conceptually cohesive work that spans both music and performance.
Tsai is one of the most decorated artists in Golden Melody Awards history, having received 21 nominations and won seven awards.
