Taipei, Dec. 27 (CNA) Taipei Children's Amusement Park will host a family-oriented New Year's Eve celebration on Dec. 31, featuring drone performances, fireworks and international countdown broadcasts, its operator said Saturday.
According to Taipei Metro Recreation Enterprise Co., the park will extend its operating hours until 9:30 p.m. that day, with festivities beginning at 6:50 p.m.
The evening will include a 480-second close-range drone show titled "Break Through the Sky," followed by two fireworks displays at 7 p.m. and 8:26 p.m., the company said.
The program will also feature a live connection to New Zealand -- one of the first countries to ring in the New Year -- broadcasting fireworks from Auckland's Sky Tower to give families an early countdown experience, it said.
The New Year's Eve event coincides with a major milestone for the park, which marked its 11th anniversary this year and welcomed its 20 millionth visitor on Friday.
Opened at the end of 2014, the park surpassed 10 million visitors in August 2019 before reaching the 20 million mark this week, the company said in a statement.
The milestone visitor, surnamed Lin (林), visited the park with his two children and said he was surprised to learn he had been selected. As part of the celebration, the family received a complimentary pass, allowing free entry throughout next year.
