
Taipei, July 31 (CNA) Six Taiwanese companies, including contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), made the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list of the world's largest firms by revenue.
In a report published by New York-based Fortune magazine on Tuesday, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (better known as Foxconn) ranked highest among Taiwanese firms, placing 28th with revenue of US$213.69 billion.
TSMC ranked 126th with US$90.16 billion in revenue, followed by Quanta Computer Inc. at 348th, Pegatron Corp. at 461st, CPC Corp., Taiwan at 494th and Wistron Corp. at 496th.
According to Fortune, the world's 500 largest companies generated a combined US$41.7 trillion in revenue in 2024, up 1.8 percent from the previous year.
"Together, they employ 70.1 million people, and their revenue represents more than one-third of the world's GDP," the report said.
U.S. retail giant Walmart once again topped the list, with revenue of US$680.98 billion.
Amazon ranked second, followed by State Grid, Saudi Aramco, China National Petroleum, Sinopec Group, UnitedHealth Group, Apple, CVS Health and Berkshire Hathaway, rounding out the top 10.
Meanwhile, Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, ranked 41st, up 25 spots from the previous year.
Companies on the Fortune Global 500 are ranked by total revenue for their fiscal years ending on or before March 31, 2025.
